Unlike some other of the other Online TV apps this is a standalone app and does not require extra 3rd party app to work. The devs customize the player with a boot screen to brand the player to your sites needs. They were kind enough to offer us with a wmArcade branded player :) . We tested this out on Wi-Fi on a HTC Diamond ( WM6.5.3 ). Once you first launch the app the app take a few seconds to download the list of available channels. According to the devs they maintains a close watch on the available channels and weed out the broken links quite often. Occasionally I did run in to some channels that would not load ( but when I checked it at a later time most of them were working ). Unfortunately you cannot add your own stream locations and channels but if you find one you can ask the devs to include it. On that note the devs use a ticket based support system and was quite helpful and fast with our queries.
You have a Play, fullscreen button and a volume slider on the main video interface. If you drill down in to the settings you can select one of the 2 available language, one of which is thankfully English. Should you choose to register the app you can do that via the Menu softkey. You can also manually update the channels here. Once you launch the channel menu you can Browse through the 808 channels ( at the time of writing this review ) or browse through you favorites. The apps offers 2 ways to sort through the channels by Countries, Genre. The channels got a nice country flag to the side which helps the user identify the stream. The bitrate for the streaming channel in is shown along with name of the stream. With my connection I found out that if the stream goes above 500K the video does not come in very smoothly when its close to 900k the video is almost not watchable but audio seems to work well. The available Genres are : * Adult * Entertainment * Kids * Live * Movies * Music * News * Religious * Sports The app has got some serious adult content and I think there should be some sort of warning when you launch the app and some sort of parental controls for the adult channels, right now every one have a free run on those. One other thing was that if you choose a genres and country the app does not remember these when you restart the app. The other limitation is that the you are restricted to the available tv channels, some of the content go in to repeat mode while some other like the news channel offers the latest content, if you find some channels that you like then it might be worth the look, so try the demo and see if you would like to spend $14.95 on the full version. There is a demo version which will allows the user full access for 5 minutes. Вернуться назад |
